INSPIRING STRENGTH IN OTHERS

The professional branches of the Army (the Army Medical Department, the Judge Advocate General’s Corps and the Army Chaplain Corps) provide civilian degreed leaders a means to receive a Direct Commission in their career field.  Specially designed courses contain instruction in military history, Army leadership, military customs and courtesies and career-specific classes.   

In some cases a Direct Commission is available in other career branches in the Army Reserve and National Guard. See your Recruiter or a qualified Career Counselor to learn about eligibility requirements.

Persons who gain a Direct Commission will receive the rank determined by their career branch.  They will serve in the Active Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard as experts and leaders.

REQUIREMENTS

To receive a Direct Commission, you must be:

  • Within the age requirements (varies by professional career field and age waivers may be considered)
  • A U.S. citizen
  • A college graduate
  • Physically fit
